Dear Friends of Soldier,
As many of you know through family and newspaper articles, the Soldier Community Club is alive and providing family friendly events and life-long learning opportunities for the citizens of Soldier and the surrounding area.
A dedicated group of volunteers have taken the building into caring hands and have written grants to secure money for a new roof, and complete renovation of the lower level. This lower level will provide a Senior Center for our aging population, as well as the exercise room for seniors and anyone in the community.
The lower level will have two handicapped accessible restrooms with showers, a dining room, a complete kitchen and a large activity room with computers, 52" TV, Soldier history and possibly the Soldier Library.
The renovation of the entire building has a timeline to complete. Soldier's 125th Sesquicentennial will be held in 2013. The building will be the focal point of the activities being planned to celebrate this important milestone for Soldier. We hope all of you are planning a return trip to our fine town.
We have received a grant through the USDA Rural Development Program for over $70,000. This requires us to have a match of $19,000 to complete the work.
We have been holding fundraisers and received a grant from Monona County Community Partners Foundation for $4,000.00 which we can apply toward this match.
We are now asking for your help!
We hope you will see the importance of this project to our aging population of your families living here in and give back to Soldier with your donation.
Your donation will be tax deductible through the City of Soldier.
We are aware of the current economic situation that is affecting all of us. You would be amazed how even though it is a tough time for all, people in our community are giving of themselves toward this very important need.
Please take this opportunity to pay it forward! Soldier gave all of us a great start in life, and there is not a better feeling than giving it back.
